A Book Exchange Booth!

Visiting the William Jewell campus for a Christmas concert, I came across this:

I'd seen pictures of ones in New York City, and was thrilled to see the idea had caught on here in a small Midwest town. If I'd had a book on hand, I'd have totally done an exchange. Still it was fun riffling through the offerings: Suzanne Collins, Janet Evanovich, Maria Schriver, John Grisham, and tons of authors I'd never heard of.

Have you ever seen one of these? And what book would you leave in a book exchange booth?

Oh goodness yes!! How amazing! In a little village just before Cambridge! We stumbled across it after going for a walk and it was so so so cute!! Love that it's catching on globally! Take care

I've never seen one of these before! How cool. So, you just leave a book in exchange for another? That is SO awesome!! I'd probably leave Eleanor and Park since that was my favorite book of the year (though I don't know if I'd be able to part with my copy lol).

Also, it's been a while but...you got a literary agent!!! I don't know if you even remember me, but I think we were querying around the same time so--although it's probably REALLY late--congrats!

Hope you have a great week!

I love his idea! Jean Fischer, an author friend of mine has done a post or two about little lending libraries. They are smaller than the booth, but the idea is the same. She recently put one out in front of her house. I think it is such a great idea, whether in booth or box form!

There is a rest stop near Brigham City that has a rack for book exchanges. I thought it was pretty cool! So see, even here in Utah, we got it going on!

That is pretty cool. I've never seen one in person, but I've seen different pictures of them.

We just had one appear in our nearby park! Except it looks like a giant bird house sitting on top of a short pole. It only has 2 shelves inside but I already found a great book. I thought it was so wonderful that it was actually a good omen for 2014!
