10 Random Facts

Lindsay, over at Adventures in Writing, tagged me last week with a Random Fact post. So it is my privilege to share 10 random things about myself (the trick is to keep you from getting bored).
  1. I bite my lip when I'm thinking. (My bottom lip really takes a beating when I'm writing.)
  2. I have amazingly high arches. Shoe shopping is very difficult.
  3. When I was age 6 or so, I randomly decided I was going to go to Harvard. That lasted until I looked at tuition prices in high school.
  4. I learned to play the guitar because my college roommate took a class and I thought it looked fun. I have a reperatoire of about 10 songs I can play (including "My Grandfather's Clock"). ;)
  5. I once slipped a piece of broccoli down my shirt to avoid eating it. I totally got caught because it fell onto the kitchen floor before I could dispose of it.
  6. My sister named the car I drove in high school "Calico." (Bet you can guess why.)
  7. The horn on Calico didn't work. Except when it did. And then it tried to make up for lost time.
  8. The passenger door on Calico wouldn't stay shut in freezing weather. We had a lot of freezing weather my senior year.
  9. When I was 15, I travelled to Mexico with my family to witness a total solar eclipse. It turned out to be cloudy.
  10. I like coloring in coloring books.
 I am tagging:

Kamille Elahi
Bethany Elizabeth
Maeve Frazier

P.S. This is a low-stress tag. Do with it what you will. :)

The clouds on eclipse day is totally something that would have happened to me. But hey--at least you were in Mexico!

HI! *waves*

New follower here...loved getting to know you through the random facts! I think #7 is my favorite! Sounds like Calico gave you some great inspiration!

Calico sounds like a memorable part of your life, I suspect it took you on lots of adventures. And maybe fostered your License Plate interest??

Love these. Laughing about the broccoli and honking in the Calico. I love coloring books too. It's so relaxing to color :)

5 and 9 are the funniest. I don't think I've ever seen an eclipse. I live in a cloudy place so when there is an eclipse, the chances you'll see one are zilch!

You should write a story about driving to Mexico in Calico with a Harvard grad and when you arrived, played "grandfather clock" as the clouds disperse to show the eclipse and you got so excited you accidentally swallowed a piece of broccoli you meant to hide and trip over your ill-fitting shoes as Calico lets out a sustained honk.

My first car was named Rover - a rear wheel drive chevette scooter - worst car EVER in snow... and I went to college in Vermont :)

That is crazy about the trip to Mexico! Bummer it turned out cloudy but I bet it was still an awesome trip!

That's sad about the solar eclipse. :( But I was laughing when I read your facts about Calico. Oh, high school cars. I had an awful one (twice as old as I was) but, thankfully, it died in the middle of the road on a very speedy road, and my parents decided to buy me a safer car after that. :)

Funny how the tuition cost can change your plans. Sigh. I love the broccoli detail. That is a bummer about the solar eclipse. Weather has a way of changing our plans.

What a fun post! I love the solar eclipse detail. And you have to work Calico into your writing somehow!

Entertaining facts Janet.

I had to laugh at your #5. When I was a child, my brother and I would use a similar trick in disposing of our lima beans and peas--knowing that the dog would eat what had fallen. Well, we got busted because he pushed his luck, and kept dropping so many veggies that even the dog fled the scene.

As such, we ate while being watching.

When I was six, I decided I would only drive Porsches. I also faced the price tag issue.
