Christmas Is . . .

Gingery spice
Filling the air.
Spearmint leaves
Stuck to tasty houses
With Dum-dum light posts.

Cinna-minni sweetness
Rolled in butter
And fluffy dough.
Seeping stealthily through the house
Calling soon-to-be sticky fingers to the kitchen.

Joseph and Mary
Sitting in our house.
Careful not to fight
Just this one night.
Gently rocking baby doll Jesus
In His Tupperware manger.

Soft sighs of contentment
As kids snuggle under the covers
In new pajamas.
Cookies and note in place.
Knowing Santa is real.

More important, knowing Love is real.

This is me wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays whatever you may celebrate! I will be taking a break until the New Year, so I will see you then!

In the mean time, what is Christmas to you?

Awwww how adorable! Your family is just super duper sweet!

Have a most wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!! See you soon!

At the moment for me, Christmas means mince pies and mulled wine! :-)

Take care

Love the poem, Janet.

So was the Tupperware manger comfortable at least? :D

My younger two kids still believe in Santa, but I have a feeling this will be the last year. *starts sobbing* My 7 yo had a big grin on her face the other day when she announced that maybe it's really the parents who buy the presents and pretend to be Santa, and that that would make me Mrs. Claus. My 9 yo, in a moment of panic, told me that he believes Santa is real (and my 7 yo decided to agree with him). But next Christmas he will be 10. :(

My 12 year old knows better. But he also knows that if he says anything, bye bye gifts from Santa. Not that that matters. There's nothing he really wants for Christmas.

I love your "careful not to fight, just this one night"!

One of my favorite things at Christmas time is singing carols as lullabies to my kids at bed time, and doing the advent calendar with the kids, seeing what parts of the story around Jesus' birth they remember (I've made my own advent calender with some tricky questions!)

And I LOVE Christmas lights. I just learned in Australia they call them fairy lights. I can't have enough of them!

Lovely post, Janet! So fun to see the pics of your family. Yes, I think our kids would play well together. :)

Christmas is all the things you mentioned and the joy that comes because the Messiah came to earth to save us. I'm very thankful and reflective this time of year!

Have a wonderful Christmas and a good rest.

xoxo Amy

Christmas is lights and candles, hot chocolate and snuggles on the couch.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

That's a great looking Gingerbread house! Mine always collapse on me. Nest year I'll try duct tape to hold it together. Have a Happy Holiday!
